The girls in the final episodes of season three are attacked at the house by a demon assassin named Shax that almost kills the but Phoebe distacts him long ehough for the girls to be saved by Leo then the three girls together kill Shax outside the house with a power of three spell. They are caught on video and turned into media celebrities. A wannabee witch tries to get them to teach her but they rudely send her away. Leo goes to the underworld and tries to find out what is happening. The wannabee witch shoots Piper and she needs to go to the hospital but Prue is blocked in. Cole and Phoebe get an idea to make a deal with the Source to get the Tempest to reverse time to before Shax was killed. Prue goes bezerk and clears the streets with her magig and takes Piper to the Hospital where Piper dies because Leo can't hear their calls in the underworld. Prue is about to be killed by a snipers bullet when the source agrees to a deal provided Phoebe stays in the underworld with Cole. Phoebe agrees provided they warn Piper and Prue before Shax attacks. They agree and the Tempest reverses time. The Source sends no warning. Shax attacks and with out Phoebe to distract him he kills both Prue and Piper. As explained in Season 4, Leo arrives there late and Prue has already left her body and he only has time to save Piper. Phoebe and Cole escape the underworld, Piper tries to call on Prue but get Paige in stead. The elders have Prue in communicado. Patty tells the girls that.

Leo ends up only being able to save Piper and Prue dies.
