remove the regulator on your smoker. propane is stored at a much higher pressure. you can hook ch4 (natural gas) directly to it without a reg. you gas pressure to your house will be onces. no reg required. you will need to "drill the orfaces" not only on the burner ports, but also on the gas valve itself. get a drill bit that will barely fit in the hole...now go up 2 sizes. and drill each hole. very time consuming but you will save money. you can go to your local supplier to get gas hose.

I have driven a van converted to natural gas. It requires a lot of tank space. It has very poor range. It would be ok in town but not on a road trip. It also makes less power. Propane I had a pickup converted to was nice. If you can just get it set up for propane alone not dual fuel it can run much better. A propane conversion is roughly about $3000. (I'm in Canada) Probably cheaper if you are in the USA. If you consider to convert go with propane in my opinion. I don't know if I would bother converting a car to propane or natural gas unless it is only a town car. Just won't have the room to put in a good sized tank. Natural gas stations can be hard to find as there aren't very many of them.

Contact Members Mark. You will need a different regulater and a different set of burners. The holes are different sizes in the burners for natural gas than the original propane ones. Check out this guy's site for details on how he did it...

Propane burner orifices have larger openings than natural gas. If yours are brass, solder over and redrill with a smaller drill. You may have to do it a couple of times until you get a blue flame without any yellow coloration.

i think you just have to change the valve or orfice. you should be able to go to a place that sells that kind of smoker and they should have or can get a change over kit. but if you want REALLY GOOD food off of a smoker, get a wood-charcoal smoker. light and day difference!!
