I use No7 lash extension mascara from boots - I find it gives lovely long, thick, defined lashes.
And the waterproof one is really waterproof, which is good if you are a girl like me who cries alot!

I do not know what shops on the highstreet mean.

I had used the pink and green Maybeline kind for a while, but then began trying all of the ones available in the pharmacies (Revlon, Max Factor, Loreal, etc). I even tried Mary Kay and Clinique. My favorite is Covergirl super thick lash (red)! I try the new ones too, just always on the look out for something better, but I always return to the super thick lash!

Not only does this brand make my lashes nice and thick but I have long lashes and this lengthens them even more (they rub my glasses)! I prefer Brown, but I have reddish light brown hair. It also washes off very easily!

I cant recommend maxfactor's masterpiece mascara enough - it's just fabulous! It makes your eyes look amazing and it's not as messy as some of the others i've tried - it costs about a tenner.
If you're on a tighter budget try maybeliene's great lash mascara in blackest black, that's also quite a dramatic effect but half the price.

Clinique Full Potential Mascara, Black. It comes in other colors too if you don't like the dark look.

It makes your lashes look about 50% longer, it never clumps or smells weird, and it doesn't burn if you accidentally get it in your eye. It also washes off super easy, even when reapplied many times.

It's a little pricey for mascara but it is sooooooooo WORTH IT!

Maybeline Superlash Mascara - I think that's what it's called. It doesn't end up smaudge under your eyes by the end of a long day. It backs your lashes look really really long but still natural. I highly recomend it. Oh and it's not too pricey either!

I have been using mascara for over 25 years and I have found after buying so many different brands that the best is any Lancome one. They are a bit pricey....but you get what you pay for. Don't bother with all these newcomers...stick to Lancome...you won't be sorry!

Oooh, I LOOOVE mascara, my favorites of all time are:

Lancome L'extreme:
(it makes my lashes super-duper long, thick and separated, prolly my fave of all, especially paired with Lancome's lash conditioner)

Dior show
(TONS of volume and length, but not as long as L'extreme)

Dior show Unlimited (similar to regular Diorshow, but I think it gives more of a natural look, not too thick)
