I'm looking for a hobby that is complex yet easy to do and inexpensive. It would be an outlet for me and a stress reliver.

Crocheting or knitting are relatively inexpensive. Jewelry making is a little more costley, but you get jewelry that matches your outfits, and have the option to make gifts, or sell what you make. And if you wear a lot of jewelry, it is cheaper to make it, than buy it.
I picked jewelry, most sets can be made in a few hours, very gratifying for the impatient crafter, like me. I used to love to embroider, but big projects can take years.

Acrylic painting. You can get a nice small canvas for around 5. and i would think u could get a basic paint set for 20 or so. I guess getting a nice brush might be a little bit more. But it's still in that general price range. And it'd last you for a while [you'd have to buy a new canvas each time and paint eventually].

I've seen some "paint-by-number" picture sets in hobby stores like Hobby Lobby and Michaels. These take no real talent, but come out very good if you take your time and follow the lines. I started this way and got interested in fine art, studied Bob Ross style and it is a good hobby for those inclined toward art.

sewing! I started sewing this year and I'm thinking of a career in fashion design now! It's great and if you don't like the challenge of coming up with your own patterns/ideas, there are thousands of patterns available for pretty cheap. Check out a fabric store in your area, there are usually walls with great fabric on sale for as little as $1/meter...that's about a yard if you don't use metric. Try making Halloween costumes or make some of your Christmas presents this year! There are tons of free learning websites you can use to get started (or the people at the fabric stores are great too!) You can even make a clone of yourself (for fitting)by using duct tape...(it was hilarious trying to do it alone! but I did...get a friend to help if ya can)...check out these sites! have fun! (try Simplicity's patterns for Dummies to start! they're real easy!)

Start writing a journal. Or start writing stories. Or better yet, poetry. What better outlet to release tension in the words:

I CRIED OUT
BUT NO ONE HEARD
TOO BUSY WITH THE ALL
THE DISTRACTIONS IN THIS WORLD...

Obviously, it doesn't have to be this bad ;) But you see what I mean. If you have access to a computer, start a blog. It could be about anything. Your fave show, whatever. Blogger.com offers you a service for free as well as Xanga.com. Seek any blog site that offers free service.

But, if you don't want to spend on internet connections, a pen a paper for writing is all you'll need...and imagination :)

knitting/crochet is great as is cross stitch.

knitting will cost you about 5 bucks to start. $3 for the needles and $2 for your first ball of yarn. www.knittinghelp.com has great videos you can download for free. its amazing. Theres always a new challange with knitting too. a larger project or more complicated pattern to try. or if your like me, theres always something simpler too lol

cross stitch is a great challange too. you can get little kits for about $1.50 at walmart when you first start and you can get more complicated ones as you become more comfortable with the craft.
