No, there are different types.

For example, there are adult and embryonic stem cells.

Adult stem cells can be extracted from your bone marrow. There has been more success with them when used in your own body since there is a lowered risk of rejection.

Are All Cells The Same

2017-01-13 03:17:25 · answer #2 · answered by flintroy 4 · 0 0

Although all cells have some simular organelles and functions, they are not very alike at all. For instants cells have different jobs to do within the body, a cell can be a heart cell and another can be a liver cell. Another example is animal and plant cells are different, plant cells have no lysosomes and have a cell wall instead of a membrane. Plant cells also have chloroplasts which make the green color of the plant and the energy for the cell. Plant stem cells are different from plant leaf cells, they need to be because they both do different functions inside the plant. Cells are units at which all organisms are made. Some oragisms consist of only one cell and some are very complex. Although cells are different they have simularities for example, all cells have some kind of a membrane which regulates what leaves and enters a cell. So you see all cells are different.

there are different cells (or differences) for the 5 different taxonological kingdoms
e.g. a plant cell has a cellulose cell wall where as fungus has a chitin cell wall
protoctistae
plantae
fungi
animalia
prokyriotae
then you have reproductive cells which always have (when no fault has occured) half the number of chromosomes
then every cell within an organism is different as they all preform different roles

Cells are the building blocks of life.

all life has DNA (Genes)

This DNA is dictated by the sort of life the cell originated from (human, tree, fish, ant etc...)

so therefore: no cell is exactly like any other because all DNA is different!

(One exception to this rule is Twins. these are formed when two sets of cells are created at exactly the same time with the same DNA)
