Its a very liberal policy of removing anything that might possibly make someone feel different, uncomfortable or not equal. Prime examples can be found in England which has become very politically correct. It's like you can't celebrate your British culture and traditions because foreigners don't hold the same traditions and so to make them feel less offended, you simply don't celebrate. It's destroying our culture!
Saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas (so you don't offend non-Christians). Same would go for Easter or any other Christian/Western religious holidays.
Calling a retarded person "mentally challenged"
Calling an American black person "African-American". Interestingly I asked a Q on here what black people in the US wanted to be called. All said that been called black was OK by them. It seems this is what white-libs think black people wanted to be called.
Using euphamisms instead (EG: a home executive is actually a stay-at-home mom/dad). Juvenile delinquents becomes "children at risk" or illegal aliens become "undocumented workers"
Funny thing is that it's only Western liberals that have this political correctness in them.
Of course this is my opinion. If you want a more objective, official version, go to the link.

Politically correct is a dumbing down or diluting views. To become culturally neutral. Politically correct does not mean being polite. Politically correct does not mean being honest. For example: a black person can criticize his own stereotypes but a white person can criticize class stereotypes in fear of being considered a racist.
Feminist can criticize that men's role in society and try to make women neutral in power and status. When in truth men and women are wired differently by their nature in roles of provider, protector, disciplinary and child raising. Religion is a biggy, and it seems we are in a cultural, religious conflict in the political realm. The middle east, our congress, what is printed on our money, the French, etc.
A good reference is George Carlin the comedian. Comics make fun of the truth. Borat is another example of how silly we are. I would choose humor over political correctness anyday.

It means that somehow we have come to believe we have to all pander to other people's "delicate feelings". You have to find a euphamism for everything that s eems to reflect on somebody in a negative way. It's why we have come to make joking references to a person who is a "shorty" by saying that person is "perpendicularly challenged" You can't refer to someone as a "raving nutter" but have to say he is "emotionally challenged".
Actually Political Correctness has been around forever in many forms. The garment Industry uses definitions like "full-figured" to refer to garments made for fat, or "extra large" women. and the label "petite" attached to garments made for short, skinny females.
I absolutely approve of doing everything possible to find words and expressions that help to enfold our fellow man into the "human family" regardless of their individual "peculiarities", and avoid being unnecessarily hurtful. I just think, though, that the whole thing has gotten a bit ridiculous these days. I get really irritated for example, whenever I c atch something on a news report about some guy being apprehended for committing a really serious criminal offence. Let's s ay he stabbed somebody in a drunken rage. A newsreporter is questioning a police officer who is referring to the perpetrator as "the gentleman" "The gentleman, when taken into custody, said.........." The guy just stabbed somebody for heaven's sakes. He is NOT a gentleman. lol, I'm ok with a lot of the reasonable "P.C" stuff, but for crying out loud, let's get back within the bounds of reason to where we can call the guy who comes and picks up your trash a "garbage collector" and not have to s truggle for expressions like "Refuse Removal Technician" or something LOLOL

It means that you conform to standards of political correctness, some of which are: Militant tolerance for all ethnicities and cultures, calling others into account who are not practicing tolerance to that standard, maintaining a politically liberal stance, lip service to political activism in favor of ecology and other politically liberal objectives, and being mildly if not determinedly socialistic. There are other factors involved but those are the main ones.
I hope this was helpful!

Supposedly you can't say anything offensive, which is impossible.
Political Correctness is actually a movement to gain acceptance of previously unacceptable behavior, as you can freely say anything offensive about males, whites, and Christians.

In it's true sense, it is to do with equality. Of course, it now stands for any stupid prissy little rules, especially to do with the repression of a native custom in favour of a foreign one, or the removal of competition, so that we all "appear" to be winners.
