Yeah, my car's paint job is starting to look bad, but i think i can make it look good with a good wash and then a nice good old buffer. I was wondering what would be a good wax to use/or if there is another product that is better to use on my car. My car has this faded-away black stuff on the top and the paint job doesn't feel smooth like it should. I saw a commercial for some stuff but that would fix my paint job up, but i don't remember what is was called. help would be greatly appreciated.

No wax job is going to replace the paint job! If the paint is worn and faded then get it repainted! If it just needs some shining, then a good road film conditioner to remove the road film and then a good waxing! I like the new polymers, they are easy to put on and take off with very little effort involved or you can go the old route with carbanuba wax which requires plenty of effort but the out come is excellent and long lasting!

You need to polish the paint first to bring back the shine and remove scratches and oxidized paint. Stay away from rubbing compounds unless your paint is super bad. Try Meguiar's ScratchX or ColorX. Then put a coat of wax on top. Try Mother's Synwax, a very good synthetic that lasts longer than carnauba waxes.

in order to bring the shine back to your paint you need to buff the car at a medium speed with a rubbing compound. 3M brand rubbing compound can be found in most part stores and works great. make sure to use the medium speed when buffing though or you will burn your paint which means taking off the clearcoat. after buffing put on a carnuba based wax by hand and you should bring the shine back to your car.
