Generally, only your best friends and those are few and far between. Your lovers or your spouses can fill this role but often we are not honest with the people we are intimate with. We avoid honesty with these people for fear of repercussions such as a fight, hurt feeling, etc. If you have a really good friend, they know the truth about you because you are not afraid to tell a friend the truth. Now this is a real friend. Friendships are time tested and will endure as long as your friend does not gossip and really has your best interests at heart. Your friend is your lover without the sex and you know there will never be sex. It takes many years to establish this kind of friendship so that is why I say that true friends are often limited to one or tow people in a lifetime. Also, you have to want to be understood. If you hold back your real feelings and opinions, no one will ever understand you and that will be your loss.

it all depends on which stage you are in with your life.. you have to be able to know a person inside and out in order to call them your soul mate anyways.. But I believe that you can allow as many people as you want to get to know you... Some people forget the important things, some relationships fall off, and some just don't make it.. You have to just learn when and who to allow into your life or circle... People we only live and love once... The question is how do you make it last without the hurt?

I don't believe any--simply because even I don't always know who I am deep down; I still surprise myself.
