Try washing them in hot water and going into the dryer immediately. You could always try different soap and fabric softener.

Dunno, but my best guess would be there's some sort of real stubborn fungus that's causing the smell. Try an experiment. Fold the wet towel and place it in the microwave for a few seconds.Might have to refold it a couple of times to nuke all the little spores. Or, hang them out in the sun for a few hours. The ultraviolet part of the light will kill spores. If the towels are just everday stuff, add an ounce of bleach to the wash before you load the towels. If you live in an area that gets a fair amount of rain, spores can sometimes be a real problem.

Well, not sure. Mine do it to sometimes. Don't know why.

One thing that might help keep them fresh alittle longer though, is to make sure each one is hung to dry, and spread out well. Prevents any mold spores from gathering.

If you have a safe kind of radiator, near by the radiator, or directly over it, or even on it might help.

If it doesn't at least it will be nice and warm.

Don't give towels to much hamper time. That may make a problem it is hard to get out. If possible, put them into the hamper when dry, not soaking wet.

Wash your towels separately, in hot water, use goof detergent.
Do not overload machine, remove promptly.
Dry thoroughly before folding away. Make sure there is no musty smell in your closets.
Hang your towels to dry on rods in bathroom before re-using.
Let dry before placing in hampers, or launder immediately after use.
Stop using fabric softener. Use regular detergent.

You may be overloading the washer so the clothes aren't really clean. Then when you get the towel wet, the smell becomes more obvious. My husband is famous for overloading, and the washclothes are nauseating if he has done the laundry.

Try using white distilled vinegar in the rinse cycle about a cup. vinegar neutralizes the odor.

What is your water like ? Do you have the right chemicals in your water (i.e. chlorine, etc.) Maybe you should see a water specialist to see if its actually your water that needs to be treated.
