What exactly are RATIOS of a car?how does it affect acceleration.please exaplin elaborately.Also,what are the uses of roof scoops on top of cars?are they used for air intake for refilling up the nitros?Does it not decrease downforce of a car and aerodynamics are reduced?What is the difference between torque and horsepower?

OK gear ratios are, in layman’s terms, kind of like this. If I turn this crank one turn and the wheel it is connected to turns twice the gear ratio is 2to1. In a car they use this to determine how big an engine they need to move the car efficiently for the given purpose. So given that, if you have a car with a 15 inch wheel that uses a standard tire, and you put a bigger or taller tire on it you have effectively changed the ratio and although you might need more power for the take off, you have a better max speed. (In theory)
Scoops depending on where they are located (usually on the hood) can increase the head pressure available to the intake of the engine carburetor/injector system. As the vehicle goes faster, the head pressure build up in front of the scoop so the engine “breaths” better.
Torque vs. horsepower horsepower is the amount of power the engine is capable of producing, look at the size of a lawn mower engine in a retail store, some are 4.5HP some are 6.0hP and so on. The 4.5HP engine till deliver the equivalent of four and a half horses when it is running at its designed capacity. Torque on the other hand is what kind of power is available to the output shaft and is a constant if the gearing in the transmitting component is not changed. But for a moment lets say you have a three speed transmission, in first gear your delivered torque is high, in second, because the vehicle is moving, the delivered torque is less, and in third because the ratio of revolutions between the engine and output of the transmission is almost 1 to 1 the torque is that of the engine.
Nitrous is a different animal all together, it is pressurized gas and having scoops or spoilers have nothing to do with it.
Wings or spoilers are used to try and make the vehicle more stable at higher speeds, some will force the rear of the car down for better handling some will be extended to stabilize the vehicle. Look at drag racers vehicles. The “rails” now have wings to force the rear tires down for better top end, they also have wings in front to help hold the front down for better control. For the “factory” cars, you will see them using torsion bars that force the vehicle weight onto the rear wheels to give better traction out of the hole.

Hope this answers your question!

Gear are used to give the engine mechanical advantage when it most needs it, e.g. moving a heavy car from standstill to some momentum, and then for successive stages of acceleration. This is done by compromising speed for torque. More torque = more pulling power. This is a similar principle to using a long lever to turn or pick -up something. Gears are not used to accelerate, but are instead there to assist the engine to take the car to the next level of speed. You accelerate by increasing the RPM of the engine. lower gears have higher ratios and that is why you raise the engine significantly at lower gears to gain some speed. And the engine goes quiet at top gear.

Roof scoops in normal cars must only be there for style. In a formula 1~6 or stock car it may be there for air intake only if the vehicle is midengined i.e the engine is behind the driver.

Torque is a component of horsepower. It is best described as the 'pulling' component of power. For lay understanding torque x speed = power.

gearing, can affect your acceleration and your top speed. the higher the ratio the fater you accelerate but the lower your topend speed. its like a 10speed bike. in first gear you can get moving quickly, can't go too fast, in tenth gear its very hard to get started but once moving you have really move. some scoops are just for looks other get cold air streight to the engine or to cool the brakes. you don't get nirtos by scooping it out of the air, you have to buy it. a spoiler does reduse the slick aerodynamics of a car, but without it, you won't be able to control the car long enough to enjoy the streamlined curves. its a balancing act. torque is a different rating on power. you can have lots of horsepower, with with little torque getting to the wheels, you won't be going anywhere fast.

Torque=Force*Leverage=p*l
hp=k*N*T N-rpm ,k- constant
Gear ratio
when a gear with10 teeth is in mesh with 100 teeth wheel
gear ratio= 10/100=1/10 ie for every revolution by 10 teeth wheel ,100 teeth wheel will make 1/10 of revolution[360/10=36 degree]
It is designed to increase torque hp=k*N*T
As speed is down,torque is up for same HP
heavy Torque is needed to move a vehicle at rest
