I reckon they are addressing all the dumbf*ckwits in that country who do not have a passport and who think that the marvellous Bruce Springsteen is being a patriotic redneck with his anthemic 'Born In The USA'-Yeah-80% will be about right then!!!
Good to be a Brit-where intelligence shines over the loud and crass any day.Oh,and where one of our troops is capable of doing what it would take a platoon of theirs to figure out!!

Song Meaning:
AMERICAN IDIOT
The title track of the album. Basically, there's a confused, disoriented, angsty kid wrapped around a world of misconception and he has nowhere to go and feels hopeless and miserable. So this kid, the Jesus of Suburbia, is just crying out an anthem for the world to hear, screaming miserably "Don't wanna be an American Idiot..." He sees that he's stuck in this 'redneck agenda' and there's not a damn thing he can do to change it.

I'd say it describes 80 percent of the world's population, and that would most assuredly include you.

And, aren't you people responsible for having put Tony Blair in power? It would have been a lot harder for Bush to wage the war in Iraq without collusion from the British government. Apparently, Blair is Bush's puppet. I'm assuming you've seen Bush on TV and realize what an idiot he is. What does that say about a country who put Blair in power? Man, that must be pretty hard to accept. .

And excuse me, but didn't you Brits have Margaret Thatcher in power for a couple of decades or so? Lucky for the rest of the world that the UK isn't really much of anything these days, aside from a tiny island with a bunch of crumbling old buildings. Otherwise, Thatcher could have done more damage than that silly Falklands War. I noticed it was really big with the Brits in general, and especially with the morons in the local pubs. Boy, that surely did bring out the British Bulldog and Wave the Union Jack crowd. Talk about loud and crass.

And why are Brits such sour tempered, gloomy people. That's one of the things I noticed during visits there. The people all have miserable expressions on those unhealthy looking, pale faces. Maybe they're frowning to cover up those ugly teeth.

And what's the deal with Brits and their ugly teeth? Is it the water? NHS provides really great benefits, so that it's really no big deal to get your teeth fixed. Damn, people here have to pay thousands of dollars when they have dental problems, but our teeth look better. Maybe the Brits are too slothful and drunk to get out of the pubs and visit the dentist?

Brits really don't work very hard, either. In comparison to the average American, who works far longer hours. More evidence of their laziness, perhaps. They're too busy getting drunk in the pubs.

Let's see....what else....didn't your government have an empire that ruthlessly and brutally oppressed people the world over. Hence the old saying that the sun never set on the British Empire.

See how easy it is to make generalizations about an entire country? Patch together a few facts, mix in a little bitterness, and there you have it. A stupid, insulting diatribe. It doesn't really take much intelligence.

Actually, I like the Brits. Most Americans do. I think there are a lot of great things about their culture. They've made a few missteps here and there, but every country does.

Oh, and one more thing. Bruce Springsteen was really singing about the working class, and how they'd had a raw deal in this country. It has gotten worse over the past couple of decades. And Born in the USA, in particular, was an anti- war anthem, not a celebration of blind nationalism. Isn't English your first language? You really ought to be able to work that out youself.

Brit. intelligence shining over the loud and crass? Did you actually take into account the first portion of your response to your own question before you made this statement? I like the Brits. because I tend to think of them as indeed having a little more class and reserve than some. I have to say though, that you do seem to be their shining example. Intelligence, strange that you would ask a question about a song, proceed to answer your question in such a crass, general, bigoted and misinformed way.Use it as a seg way for your views on the war and then proclaim superior intelligence and class. Maybe you need to either rethink your view and the way you express it or your response.

Your 80% is an overestimate. The percentage of Americans who refuse to admit that George Bush is an idiot seems to be holding at about 30% in the polls, and more than 50% want the Democrats to control Congress.

And yes, anyone who thinks "Born in the USA" is a celebration of American patriotism is an idiot. It's an anti-war, "I fought for my country and I got screwed" protest song from the Reagan era. Springsteen's not exactly Bush's biggest fan.

The supposed 30% of Americans who have fallen into the propaganda to convince people that G. Bush is dumb, are the expected results of what Hitler once said :

"tell a lie sufficient times and people will start believing it"

The ones telling the lie now are the Democrats.

30% are the low IQ, and intellectually more vulnerable.
