Shakira is incredibly talented. She is NOT phony or "manufactured" - she made HERSELF. She has been writing all of her own songs since she was 8 years old, and recording albums for Sony since she was 13. She has always been able to maintain an incredible amount of creative control over her work - everything from writing the music to video direction and post-production. This would have been unheard of for a young Latina female in the beginning of her career, but she did it. After her first two albums, which were only released in Colombia, EVERY album she has made has been multi-Platinum and award winning. She won 5 Latin Grammys this week, by the way. At her concerts, she gives a hell of a show WITHOUT backup dancers (very rare for female pop stars these days.) You can barely hear her because everyone in the audience is cheering and singing along non-stop. Clearly she has earned her fame. She is also a humanitarian - a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF and she started her own charity foundation in Colombia which builds schools for children displaced by violence.
So stop hatin! :-p

to answer your question...it is not crap singing she just doesn't use the same vocal enchancements britney spears, madonna, justin timberlake, hip hop "artists" use....go figure

Shakira in reality is just a belly dancer with no musical talent as a singer,but yet many people go to her concerts,go figure

I use to like her..but the last few songs I hated !

I noticed that their were only guys answering this stupid comment of a question, I love shakira's music, and you were just making a stupid comment about how you dont like her music but like her, if thiers nthing good for you to say then keep you mouth shut, keep opionions to yourself!!!!!!

I agree, and it seems that most of today's singers are actually whiners, including the male singers, of whom most make me cringe, and worst of all are the screamers of which it sounds as if a bowling ball was dropped on their feet:(

On your radio and tv are a couple of buttons if her singing really bothers you i suggest you become familiar with them. One is on off the other is volume.
