I've tried but didn't have any luck.

I tried hooking up my reciever to the two front inputs but it doesn't work. There is still sound coming out of the tv whereas there should only be sound in the headphones if I was doing it right.

What 'jack socket' are you referring to and where exactly is it?

My TV does not have a headphone jack so I think I am out of luck unless you guys have some suggestions.

well hooking it up to the inputs doesn't work because those are for dvd players etc where you're actually connecting something you want to see and hear on the TV, not the other way around. you want OUTput, or a headphone jack, which not all TVs will have.

If you were to provide the model of TV you have that would make things much easier.

What I did was get an amplifier/equalizer and run the audio input from the co-ax or RCA cables into it and use one of the outputs for the TV and the other for the wireless base of the headphones. So it's like a splitter.

On mine, the headset base unit plugs into the jack socket on the TV but you have to turn the TV volume down it doesn't automatically mute.

look at the front or side of your tv and see if there is a headphone jack
its the same size as the one you plug your speakers into your pc
if you have one you plug in here this will then mute your tv
