Before I explain how to recover your password.... answer these questions:

*Are there any other active accounts on the computer?
*Do you have a floppy-disk drive?
*Does your keyboard plug into your computer with a purple connector, or is it a USB?

*****************************************
**These instructions are for Win XP**
*****************************************

Password recovery:

First try asking your brother. If he doesn't know, follow these steps....

***
If there are other accounts on the computer that have administrative access:

>Log onto a different account (you'll have to get their password)
>Click 'start'
>Click 'control panel' (if you can't find it, click 'start' then 'run' and type 'control')
>Double-click 'user accounts'
>Click on *your* account
>Click 'change [name's] password'
>Change the password (hopefully, you won't need the old one....)
>Try it!

***
If your keyboard has a purple connector:

>Restart your computer
>Repeatedly hit F8 until a black startup screen appears
>Enter 'safe mode'
>Log on as 'administrator' (no password)
>Click 'start'
>Click 'Control Panel' (if you can't find it, click 'start' then 'run' and type 'control')
>Double-click 'user accounts'
>Click on *your* account
>Click 'change [name's] password'
>Change the password (hopefully, you won't need the old one here either....)
>Try it!

***
If this is successful & you have a floppy-disk drive:

>Click 'start'
>Click 'help and support'
>Type 'password recovery'
>Click 'search' or 'Go'
>Follow the directions for creating a password recovery disk
>With a password recovery disk, you can change the password without logging on, and without knowing the old password. (keep it hidden!!)

***
If none of this worked:

>Restart your computer
>Repeatedly hit F8 until a black startup screen appears
>Enter 'safe mode'
>Log on as 'administrator' (no password)
>Click 'start'
>Click 'Control Panel' (if you can't find it, click 'start' then 'run' and type 'control')
>Double-click 'user accounts'
>Click 'delete account'
>Follow the directions for deleting an account
>Be sure to keep all documents, folders, and internet favorites!
>Click 'create a new account'
>Make a new account for yourself with a different name
>Before restarting, move all of 'my documents' into your new account. (They will probably have gotten moved onto admin's desktop when old account was deleted)
>Restart computer and log on new account

*******
Sorry it was a little vague in some places..... if you need extra help or don't understand these directions, e-mail me at Duckyquack2007@yahoo.com -- make sure you put something in the subject line that will tell me who you are and what you want.... no subject line / confusing subject line = message is deleted without being opened.....

I HOPE THIS HELPS!

GOOD LUCK!

Try here and post your question or do a system restore point and see if it will take you back to a date before your brother did what he did.Good Luck
