I don't condone divorce unless there has been cheating, but lets just say that's the case shall we? O.K. we now have a problem where the husband wants to be a jerk. That's probably the unbearable part you mentioned. Everyone and their brother is going to say get a lawyer. That will of course be a given, but she needs answers quicker than that at no cost. At least no cost now. Social services are trained to handle this kind of problem. No they won't help with the divorce, but they can steer you in directions like filing the correct paperwork so you aren't hit with kidnapping. A restraining order comes to mind. He can't be within so many yards from you and whatnot! Also they can assist with $ after the guy is gone and make sure he is paying child support. Listen, these people get paid by our taxes and the only people that use them are people who abuse the system. It will be a welcome change to help someone who actually needs it!

She can file for a legal separation. A legal separation is a process when going through a divorce. She needs to have a good lawyer who will act in her best favor and be able to convey the situation to the judge to have the best outcome. The custody arrangements can be arranged for the legal separation. If her husband is crazy she needs to be careful.

She could, but the child custody could become impossible if she does it that way. Her husband's solicitor might argue that she was mentally unstable and incapable of raising the child by herself, if she just left like that. The best thing she could do is apply for a restraining order against her husband.
But I might be wrong in this case... I hope it all works out...

By all means, she should not have to stay in a home and be miserable. She can pursue to get her divorce, and tell her to tell her lawyer, that her husband wants to drag out the divorce. then he will know what he is up against.

No...unfortunately if they both have custody...(which they do, even if no papers were drawn), she could get in trouble for kidnapping....
The child is both they're responsibility, and the courts would frown upon any parent who took away the child's right to "both" parents. She should seek counsel...That's my only advise.
good luck to you friend.! !

she sure can..tell her she will be much happier and the child involved will be more settled..even if he refuses to sign th papers straight away,he will get round to it when he realises its over..he's try playing mind games with her and using the child but she must remain calm and collect and stick to her guns..and custody can also be sorted out too
