Yes dogs wear shoes when they have cuts on their pads.
This is not a fashion item - the vet puts them on.
In addition the victorians used to make geese walk through wet tar to coat their feet before setting off to walk them to market. Honest.

Animals in general would benefit if they were made to walk over surfaces they don't usually walk on.

Pack animals from Camels to Huskies have to walk on surfaces extreme conditions. Likewise I imagine Yaks and other creatures way up in Nepal might be shod when necessary.

Apart from horseshoes, man sometimes puts bags over their hoofs to stop dust billowing up. Think Indians sneaking up on the Cavalry or vice versa in the far west.

I imagine vets will have had to plaster an animal's leg sometime (taking into account that the animals don't like it one bit.)

I am saw once on a program that they used to put shoes or little booties type things on fowl (geese and chicken) so that when they were traded around and sold, there feet would be in better condition and people would get more money for them. This was years ago though 1600's or something !

I can't think of any animals but, it would depend on whether they need them for their environment. Take a duck or a type of monkey, they need their feet how they are, putting footwear on them may not be beneficial. Take a rhinocherous that runs alot, if indeed you can find footwear that will be fit it, perhaps it may work. The idea would need to be critical discussed.
