I'd imagine they'd be scared of getting taken to task and exposed....he's so sharp and acerbic and you'd have to be seriously ballsy to go head to head with him...
plus, he might get you to say or do something that would come back to haunt you on one of the ads our nation spends bloody billions of dollars every year on...my god, billions. spent on campaigns to convince you that the other guy sucks. As Colbert might point out, think of how many bunker-buster bombs we could buy with that!

Stephen Colbert is a political commentary version of Kanye West. The farther they fall off the public radar, the more they have to come out with outlandish statements.

They both have turned into self-parody's as well.

They run the risk of creaming their pants in awe of how awesome Stephen Colbert is.

And then he humiliates them, like the majority of them deserve.

That's not totally true. He has had at least thirty or so members of the House of Representatives on his show in the segment about "Know Your District".

Lieberman declined because he is a gutless jerk.

THIS SHOW IS THE BEST ON T.V. COLBERT IS THE MASTER OF SATIRE AND I'M AFRAID POLITICIANS JUST DON'T GET IT. I LOVED THE EPISODE WITH BARRY MANILOW - NOW HE GOT IT.
