External devices such as dvd rewriters are usb devices, and can be tricky to install if you dont do it correctly
there are a few ways to install your dvd rw ,the first and easiest is go to start>control panel>add hardware>then let windows scan for any hardware changes(please make sure you have your driver cd in the internal drive, this will be needed when windows needs to copy files),and it wont be a problem
when the screen appears asking have yopu attached the device click yes,and then select the device from the list,it may be listed as a usb device or mass storage device, then select the device and click next
you then should choose the option to let windows find the driver and then click next, windows will then search for the drivers and the cd rom drive will kick in when data is needed from the disc
a few things will happen during installation such as data will be transfered to windows and you may even get a windows signed device warning,if you do press continue anyway
after this check in device manager to see if your dvd has installed correctly,
another way to install it is to install the drivers without the drive attached ,you may need to restart your computer after installation, and when this is complete just attach the dvd-rw and when you attach it,as with any usb device windows will start to install the device, and as you have already installed the drivers ,windows should have no problem installing the device, once completed your device should be ready to use
if it still dosent work after this, then a hardware failure sounds likely and you should consult your vendor were you bought it
good luck

Good day. Is a driver installed for the external drive? If u did, uninstall and reinstall the driver in device manager (Right click on my computer, click properties, click hardware tab and device manager. Must be plugged in to see the settings) Laterz.

Have you plugged it in to the mains and connected it to the computer?
