Great question. There are three paces for dancing --slow, medium and fast. So the song best suited to each of these paces would have to be a very different sort of number. For a fast dance, I prefer a classic cha cha, such as "Patricia", and for a fast dance something like Elvis Presley's fine energetic effort "Jailhouse Rock". However, I'm so old that I like the slow tunes the best; so a waltz such as "Unchained Melody" done in three-quarter time does the trick for me. I prefer dances where I can hold my partner and get to see her once in a while--so I guess I'm just a dinosaur.

Something slow and long so there's time to gradually get closer. It kind of tacky to try to feel someone up during a fast dance but something long and slow gives one that opportunity. Ha ha...I don't think I've slow danced since grade school...
