This was my first time driving a stick shift car and i shifted from 4th to 3rd thinking it was 5th and kept a constant highway traffic speed of around 70-75 for 3 hours. (i feel dumb not hearing the high reving noises.. but hey you live and learn.)

The question is what was the engine speed during your 75mph-in-third-gear trip? Assuming you have a tachometer which measures engine speed, was the needle past the mark indicating maximum recommended engine speed? If the engine was not over-reved, if it had adequate oil and did not overheat, it was not damaged. Incidentally, accidentally shifting into the wrong gear on down shift is real common. Remember to be careful. If the down shift does not feel right, reposition the shifter, do not release the clutch until you are sure what gear you are in. Experience will bring confidence.

It particularly sounds as though the computerized transmission isn't rolling out of one/3 kit into overdrive. have you ever owned this motor vehicle because of the fact it replaced into new? Has it continually shown 3,000 rpm on the tachometer @ 60 mph? What you're describing is equivilent to a classic motor vehicle with 4:11 gears interior the rear bring about severe kit (no overdrive) with a handbook 4 velocity transmission with fourth kit being dierct or a million-a million from the crankshaft to the enter shaft of the pinion kit interior the rear end. Your motor vehicle is definately caught in 0.33 kit or you acquire a used warm rod the place somebody replaced the ring and pinion gears. in my opinion that must be very uncertain.

At 75mph 3rd Gear on a V-8 and big V-6 the Engine running around 5000-5500rpm, on a small V-6 and I-4 the Engine running around 5500-6000rpm.

Red line running around 6800-7500rpm, knowingly that you decrease your Engine's life and your gas mileage went to hell in a hand basket, with efficient oil in the Engine you should be OK.

All you done was speed up the wear and tear on the internal parts of the engine. Especially if it was above the red line on the tach for that period of time.

Nope if it did not explode the engine you just used a lot of gas. Do you have a tachometer and if so watch it the next time.

Eventually. Watch your RPM tachometer if you can't hear the engine. Check the oil
