After 2 years of relationship with my girlfriend she's bring up the subject of marriage. Being divorced for 3 years, I'm afraid to jump back into being married. Is this normal? Why do women insist marriage is a logical progression in a relationship?

I have been divorced and remarried, I'm also a woman. I waited for about 2 years with the guy before I said yes to marry him. I really didn't want to remarry but I have a daughter and I thought that I might be better for her to be in a home of marriage. I hate it everything changed. Everyone is right marriage changes everything, like I said I was with him for 2 years and you think that things won't. (wrong) Don't get married, if you have the slightest doubt.

yes is a normal progression of the relationship, is like a beautifully cake is very good but need the icing to be complete. make sure the you are ready to get back in to the marriage life do, if you are in a committed relationship been married should not be hard at all, you already together just going to be more together. I dont but i have been through divorce 2x and will never remarry,reason a marriage liscence never stopped anyone from doing exactly as they wanted,its expensive to get into and expensive to get out of.I know more couples who are married and they are not happy.What purpose does marriage serve?I think its just some kind of security blanket for 1 of the partners.because what matters is what is in your heart period!! For me the only reason for marriage i guess is if your young in love and want to have children.Otherwise yes woman DO feel that is the way it should go,date,fall in love,get married,have babies.Its so ingrained in us you have no idea.OK check this out even when i date with what i just told you and I will stick to it I firmly believe it,and i has a hystercetomy and cant even have kids i still get those same feelings weird,but i just remind myself of why NOT!!

yes, well somone just said a marriage brings safe family environment, but I disagree, marrige does not make any home a safe environment.
Talk to your girlfriend and tell her what you just told us, that you are afraid to jump back in. Marriage does not guarantee that someone will stay with you forever, as you well know...As a woman I would like to get married because when we were little we all visualized getting married and what it would be like etc, .commit to her other ways let her know you are truly there for her. Tell her maybe its in the cards but not just yet..good luck to you!

Not all women insist on it dear.
IF your not ready for it, then she must understand your reasons why. IF she can't live with it, then you 2 should take a time out.
Marriage has to be what 2 people want to work, not just one.
I don't blame you for not wanting to jump.
IF your treating her like your married, then it's your place to step back and give her full rein on her life.

me personly being caholic and all i think that marriage is like a relation ship 20 grand in a whole when u get married you spend mony have rings around your fingers and then nuthing changes so to me i think all it is si a chance for the church to ahve some mony but if you religus then it a big part of a relationship

No, marriage is not necessary in a relationship. As I told my b/f, if you want to stay with me, I don't need you to sign that piece of paper. If you don't want to be with me, that piece of paper won't stop you from leaving. So, what is the point?

Is not, why get married when you can stay single for life? I know my bf is going to give me knuckle sandwich is he know, but im really scared of comitment. tell her, you need more time to see if thing really works out between you 2.
