me and my friends were trying to decide who's been the most popular female singer from the 60's untill now. it's totally by who's been the most popular, not whether you like them or their music. just who's sold the most records. i said madonna. who do you think is?

madonna for sure - she was popular then and even now, people love her adn go to her concerts

Well, if you go by the statistics then it would have to be madonna.
She has grossed more money for her work than any other female singer in the world & worth an estimated 650-800 million dollars ... (Just depends on which web site you check out...)

i like Madonna, but I'm not sure she would be voted the best. I liked Aretha Franklin. She has more soul and her songs are great. Also, like Whitney Houston. Deon Warwick. I could have misspelled the names. The woman who sang, "you take my breath away" has a beautiful voice. Annie, can't remember her last name. But she sang "sweet dreams" Her voice is amazing. Nancy Wilson from "Heart" Oh God, her voice is hot. But Madonna stands the test of time.

Madonna is definitely popular, but don't forget people like Barbra Streisand. She may not be a modern "pop" singer, but people, young and old, flock to see her and tickets are impossible to get.
