I agree. My parents were married, owned a home, lived away from their parents when my mom had me. They were great parents that didn't fit the stereotype. It frustrates that my fiance (husband as of next year and father to my children) and I get thrown in the same category as my 14 year old cousin who doesn't know who the father of her child is. This is the same girl who lives with her mom and doesn't have a job. I've been told I was a whore (I've only been with one man), that I was irresonsible ( I was on birth control), that I have no education (I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and taking a break from college right now), that I am on welfare (my fiance and I both have good jobs, etc. Oh, I can't forget that when I was pregnant with my "miracle" baby the fact that my stepdad's mother had said "she's pregnant again and she can't even take care of the one she has now." This lady had only seen me 1 time, had never been to my home, had never seen my kids. She just assumed I was like her daughter that got pregnant at 15, didn't know who the father was, and married another guy who felt sorry for her. I agree that people shouldn't lump all teen parents in 1 category.

At 18, I was married and living on my own working as a CNA. When I was 19, my brother and sister moved in with me , because their "adult parents" could not or would not care for them. My sister is currently 16, and I would bet that half the "adults" in this world aren't as mature as she is. Yes, I think that people need realize this. I also think that people need to realize that not all teens are stupid and immature. Maturity isn't based on the number of mistakes made, it is based on how you handle them.
