Surely one of the best Zepp songs, has awesome lyrics, amazing guitar, and a powerful meaning too. It is surely a heavy rock song, only very little understood it has a perfect balance of Heavy and Not so Heavy Rock.

I grew up during the '60's and we had the greatest music. Now that I am older I still hear these songs and it's too much and too overplayed! There is good music out there since and it is frustrating that the radio stations are just playing the same damn Lynrd Skynrd songs that I even heard too much of when I was 16!! I agree with you that "Stairway To Heaven" is another example. PLUS they are using these old *** songs as advertising endorsements now so I REALLY can't get away from them...

I may not seem like hard rock by today's standards, but today's standards include such fabulous dross as Nickleback, Pennywise and other angst-teen rock which is actually pop music with power chords.

Modern metal may beat zeppelin on thrash and power basis but not on style and longevity - in ten years Stairway will still be a classic and all the boy thrash bands will just be oddities for specialist collectors.

Led Zeppelin did not try to be heavy metal, heavy metal got named after it and other pioneering band's style.

It is the ultimate first song learned to play the guitar. Just like chopsticks is always the first song played on the piano.
