Keep laughing til it falls off and Haggerd picks it up lovingly lol...
that's the point ...
we all know he's not running for office, but he *is* consulting with those already in office, those running for office, and those crafting referenda for the voters on subjects like....hmm...for instance...whether gay people should be treated as second-class citizens!
Honestly, how can anyone *not* appreciate the deep significance of the deep hypocrisy exhibited by a so-called leader of organized *evangelical* christianity in this nation?!
It's not about whether 'liberals' have a problem with homosexuals running for office--'liberals' tend to accept all God's children and not require that they pretend to be something they're not. Heck, some 'liberals' would even be fine with married guys wanting to see a male escort once a month and let him snort some meth to make it even better...that's *his* business (though admittedly his wife might disagree). He can even lead a church on the days he's not working out the drug delivery deals...
BUT, it's the adamant rhetoric condemning such activity as not just the usual range of 'sins' he and his followers believe we're 'guilty' of as humans, but as abominations, challenging the very sanctity of all that is godly and good...
that's why we don't care that he's not running for office, only that he's casting some mighty big boulder-sized stones for someone who's made of blown glass!!

No of course not, but he has an audience with the President and advises him. If you can't make that connection you clearly don't understand the reason the dems are making this an issue.
When the President proclaims "Family Values" and get's his advice from the leader of 30 million evangelists who also happens to be a pole smoking meth user, it should concern us all. Get it? If he wasn't so close to the White House no one would care.

I know he's not running for office. He was just a public figure running his mouth and holding himself out there as "holier than thou" while participating in the activities that he publicly condemns. And I agree with another one of the posts: this is the scandal du jour, that replaced the Kerry scandal, that replaced the Hastert scandal, that replaced the Foley scandal....all of which obscures how sickening the war in Iraq is with thousands of dead American troops and several hundred thousand dead Iraqi citizens.

And your point (no, not the one on the cap your wearing) is what? The talk about Haggard is loud because he's a major figure in the crazy christian right and the latest in a long list of exposed hypocrites. The political significance of his problems is that he's frequently been listed by GWB and the (republican party) as a 'friend and spiritual advisor.' Get a clue.

He is a GOP supporter and Pro-Bush. He has used his religion to influence politics and has access to the white house. Haggard isn't a candidate but has close connections to Bush.

Liberals will bash anything Christian and exploit anything Christian gone wrong. But in all fairness he was a high profile supporter of conservative values (at least publicly) and therefore a viable target and Kerry isn't a candidate either, well at least not this time. I'm sure he was bashed for future campaining.

No those dumb asses don't know that it is Kerry who is running. Haggard is just a Republican operative and fundraiser who tells his people who to vote for. He only advises 30 million who to vote for.
