The hypothalamus in the brain is the temperature regulating
mechanism in human beings. It tries by all means to maintain a core body temp of 37 deg celcius. Our enzymes function best at this temp. While the inner body has this temp, the surface of the skin may be at enviromental temp. If the enviromental temp is low
the body tries to to loose as little heat as possible to the enviroment. Bloodvessels carriying valuable heat in blood is re-directed to inner parts of the body. Brain stimulates the muscles to greater activity by causing shivering, to generate heat. When too hot blood flows to skin, sweat glands are more active

the only time that the body temperature will rise from its regular temperature of 37 dc is when you have a fever if you are in a hot or cold condition. but it varies depending on if you are ill or not. it keeps a constant condition because a change in temperature by at least 1 could destroy some types of cells resulting in organ deformations
