I think love without respect is pointless and even dangerous. Just ask all of those people that won't leave an abusive relationship because "they LOVE" the bad guy.

Respect in the relationship is more important than love without respect for your partner its hard to love them the way you should. Love shouldnt hurt. No matter how much I love my husband and through all the stupid little fights I usually start and even though he takes care of our family if he ever were to lay a hand on me or our kids dont think that I would stick around. There cant be love if there is no trust and respect.

Actually, it's respect for yourself that is important. That respect would give you more perspective in how to handle the marriage. Giving and accepting love would become very simple if one had respect for themself first. If the other person is abusive for whatever reason then it is clear how to handle the situation. Right?

Love and respect go together. But what you have to understand is that women develop love for the "bad guy" before there's any abuse happening....when he treats her well and acts respectful. Once the abuse starts, the feelings are established, and love is not always easy to kill. So its not that it isn't really love on her behalf, its that it isn't really love on HIS, and she's just not able to accept it or believe it.

Actually they both should go hand in hand if there is no respect then there really is no love. You need to be respected in order to feel loved.

Respect. I can love someone/something that I respect. I can not love anything that I do not respect.

you can't have a partner-ship without respect. you should have love before the marriage ever happens. you can't have a happy relationship without the two.
