My Dog. I'm serious, I have a male doberman and my neighbor is an old woman who swears someone keeps trying to break into her house but god love her, she's a bit, uh, "touched" in her old age..... To make her feel more secure and it really was not a hard thing to do at all, I went over and showed her how to use lengths of broomsticks I cut for her window sashes to brace her windows closed. And then I gave her a couple of door alarms I had laying around that emit a high pitched alarm when the closed doors are opened from the outside. She was fine with that......and my dog didn't have to leave his "pack" after all......

I had a neighbor come to me (who I really didn't know) and ask to borrow my car. Yes, my car. I just looked at him for a long moment, not sure if I heard him correctly, and then I told him I didn't think so; but if he needed a ride somewhere, I'd be glad to do it. And like 2 months later, he borrowed his friend's car (another of my neighbors) and totaled it.
