Because they don't have any money..........but seriously, some people don't have the resources to get an education. In the US they should. There are grants, scholarships, etc.

In the US, there is a wide gap between the rich and poor. Some of it is due to capitalism. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. There are at leastt 36 million people in America living in poverty.
In many cases, if you are born rich, you have better chance of succeeding. Your family has links, you go to private schools, and get into Harvard even if you are not smart.
Poor people have to work harder in school, in many cases get straight A's or even close. They have to work for scholarships and are given grants for college.
People get poor also because....
-Drugs
-Laziness
-Like I said before, lack of opportunities
-No college
Some people end up in the same cycle and it is sad.

There are lots and lots of reasons people are poor. I remember years after my father died and my mother remarried a wonderful man with a good job and a nice house. Two weeks later they gained custody of his 3 children (that made 5) and one week later he fell on a boat motor at work became disabled and one month later the house burnt down no insurance either. So needless to say we became poor.
