I live in Virginia and we use touchscreen Diebold voting machines. I saw an HBO documentary on how easy it is to hack those machines to get a false result that is not easily detected....its all in the memory card which is rigged off-sight and you can hack the results without even needing the password. This to me is not about political parties....this is an outrage to what we supposedly are - a democracy. Are we a democracy anymore? Do you think we should go back to paper ballots? I'm voting on Tuesday but I'm not sure at all that it will matter.

I do worry about it. I'm pretty sure that if Al Gore's former company made the Diebolds and the Dem's started winning you'd hear some very vocal protests from the other side.

Here's a link to an article about a study on the 2004 elections: http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/WO0411/S00229.htm

If you vote by absentee ballot you can be sure of a paper record of your vote. It's too late for this election but request an absentee ballot for the next election.

What HBO didn't tell you is that Diebold machines were not in use in the 2000 election.

Your vote will be fine. That said. The best ballot is a piece of paper and a crayon.

I am very concerned about that. They can easily fix it with a paper receipt that with the names of whom you vote for that can then be placed in a secure box and only checked for recount purposes. For some reason Repubs are against being able to verify the election results???

No, since I voted by absentee ballot. I also reported that my husband was deceased and unable to vote. This was the honest and right thing to do. I'm a Republican.
