Whenj using a multimeter to test for continuity which of the folowing steps are correct ie

1 : Select DCV range

2 : connect the red lead to VOHM,A socket and the black lead to COM

3 : Set the meter to the highest resistance range possible

A : 1 only

B : 1 and 2 only

C : 2 only

D : 3 only

You can't do a complete test with a multimeter, but: Given that a coil is a direct short to DC (except for wire resistance), you can look for a very low impedance. If it is a very high impedance, then the coil is bad. What you can't tell is if there is a short in the coil, just an open.

Continuity is tested only in Resistance range.
Use the highest range and go to the lower level.
D is correct
