The price varies.
The location and quality are very important. Some rough opals are not much better than rocks. Others command a high price.
The biggest problem is that until cut, one never knows the quality of the finished item. Years of experience help, but is no guarantee.
Buying or selling, contact an opal dealer with a good reputation.

They will be worth more if you have them polished or faceted. Try taking them to a competent lapidarist (gem cutter) and ask whether they are of good enough quality to work into finished gemstones. If they have few cracks or inclusions of non-opal minerals, or other flaws. and are of a popular color, they may be worth finishing.

They vary in price depending on color and combinations of colors. I think the Fire opal, which has red green and white costs the most. They are pretty!
