Really hard...............I am in the same situation.
Cannot tell if it is the crazy life I have or an imbalance.
My way is Lexapro and trying to look at the overall picture and know that my life really IS really good.
Most people look at my life and say that I have everything. I guess the thing that I am missing like you is self esteem and self love, which I try to work on every day.
My self esteem issue is from an abusive deprived upbringing and keeps me feeling "not good" and poor and different.
When I stop playing that old tape in my head, look at my life, I know that how I feel inside is not reality, it is me at 9 years old.
Thank you for reminding me.
What you should do if you feel that you are not good enough, is to snap out of that illusion and say, I am beautiful, gorgeous in fact, super intelligent and a gift to the world, which you are, I am sure.
DAMN those people who made you feel the way you do!
Love to you and have the beautiful day that you deserve and make this the first day that you truly love and care for that most beautiful person, YOU!

Depression can become a real threat in your life if you are not careful...the worst thing is that if it gets too unbearable you might have to seek therapy, sometimes even medications, who by the way, has helped many people, including myself. I think you should go and see a therapist. If you think you cannot afford it, I'm here to tell you that there are low cost or even free services, you just have to seek and find. I know that some people may be scared of taking medications, such as Zoloft, Prozac, etc. but chances are you may not have to take them for too long, depending on how severe your depression is, trust me, I was skeptical at first too, but when you weight your chances of getting better against winging it on your own, I think you will be forced to do the therapy way. No one has been able to get rid of depression on there own, there are different types of depression...
there is the type that most people feel because of one particular problem that they are having at the time, which is usually temporary; then there is the one where you start feeling emotionally and physically ill, and that doesn't go away, it just gets worse, that may become chronic, in that case I would definitely suggest professional help, you cannot deal with that on your own...

The best way to see mental disorders is a series of varying degrees of depression and stress. Mild stress produces an excellent person for creativity and performance. More depression saps the energy and creativity that these people once had as the leave neurosis and become bipolar. There are three levels used to describe Bipolar. Then the imbalance of chemicals made by your own brain plays havoc with the whole control system. The auto brain or lower brain can aggressively access messages that were kept from it earlier. As the depression continues and more and more logic substitutions are made the mind goes into a full psychosis where ideas are disassociated and language decays. The end result of psychosis from severe depression is schizophrenia which has been described as incurable . There are of course are always a few people who have been able to recover mental stability. The greatest learning step required for all levels of depression recovery is to see that society as two groups . Study what you group are in and stay with your own kind to find peace and happiness.

Avoid spending too time alone.
Many people who live alone, enjoy talking to friends on the phone. They do not have this problem.
You don't have to see a psychiatrist and pay for consultation fees that you cannot afford. Any friend or colleague with whom you can chat freely, can help you more.
Another simple way is to start organizing things at home. If things are lying around, start settling things and watch the difference when everything at home begins to get organized.
Hobbies also can keep your mind occupied and dispel the loneliness. You only have to open up a little more before you find out what really is causing you frequent spells of depression.
The secret is to be occupied doing something that you love to do.
Then, you will have no time for depression.

Well, depression is not really cause by confusion, uncertainty or personal things. It is caused by what you THINK about and BELIEVE about these things in your life. Different people exposed to the same traumatic life experience often react very different, some with depression and others with a new positive outlook on life. So its not the events in our lives, but our outlook on life, our beliefs about ourselves, others and the world around us. Talking to a therapist is a good way to explore how you can find ways to change your outlook on these things. Good luck.

Take positive action. It doesn't matter what in particular but do something positive. That will lead to something else positive. If you don't know what is positive, ask yourself what you would advise your best friend in the same situation...

See a shrink. I was like this for the longest time, then it was gone & I try not to worry about things as much which is probably what triggered it to begin with.
