Hi there.
Our first trip there we did on a budget. This was 16 years ago. That meant- driving from Illinois. I packed a cooler full of food/drink- so we didn't have to spend a lot of money on food there and back. (of course gas was a lot cheaper then)
As far as I know- without doing a high pressure timeshare pitch there is no way to get discounted park tickets. So, that is the one area you will have to expect to pay full price.
We got a hotel in Kissimme which is close enough to Disney but not expensive. At the time we paid 35. a night.
None of us were big breakfast eaters so we would stop at 7-11 for a muffin and juice- stuff like that in the morning.
We would eat most meals back in the hotel area at places like Ponderosa. I also stop at a store and bought snacks and such for the hotel room.
There are also some fun- inexpensive things you can dot o fill your time. Mini golf- SWIM- some attractions like Mystery Fun house. Things like that.
The time you have is the time you make it be! Go ahead and jump in. You can do it without going into debt.
ENJOY!

If you have a tent, you can go to Disney World and camp in Fort Wilderness. It is the cheapest way to stay on Disney property. (I think it is like $54.00 a night, but you would have to check the Disney website to be sure)
You can drive-it takes longer than flying, but you can probably do it cheaper than buying airline tix for you and the kids.
Tickets-just bite the bullet and pay the price. I wouldn't trust any of the sites (online and in Florida) that offer "free" tickets. Although I know you CAN get them when you waste one or two hours of your vacation listening to a time-share sales pitch!
If you want to spread the costs of the tickets out (I don't know how much time you have before you plan on going) you can purchase the tickets for one or two family members each week or each month, either online directly from Disney World, through AAA, or if you have a Disney Store nearby-usually at a mall. I did this for our trip in 2004, and it worked out well.
You can save some money while you are there by sharing meals, take a plastic cup and get water from the drinking fountains, plan ahead what type of souveniers you wish to buy and budget accordingly. (a t-shirt goes for about $25, a towel- maybe $15-20)
You can probably find an off-property resort to stay at for a bit less, but trust me, the perks of staying in Disney World are worth every penny.
Good luck. I hope you can fit a trip into your budget, you won't regret it. (I will advise, if possible, don't go into debt for it unless you have a plan to pay it back quickly. It would end up costing so much in interest fees, that you will end up regretting the great time you will have had.)

Disney World and Disneyland are two of the most fun places in the world, but trips to the parks can also be crowded, expensive, and confusing. With a little bit of planning, your vacation can be enjoyable, fun, and magical, without all the hassle.
Here you'll find out how to get a discount on all the "extras" that can really add up when you vacation at Walt Disney World -- items like parking, stroller rental, Internet access and lots more! Discounts are available for a lot of the "small" things at Disney World, but sometimes it can be hard to find those deals. Search no more!

It is tough these days to travel on a budget! Campers use to be the way to go, but now gasoline and the high price of parks eat the savings up.
In Florida, look for the small towns 20 or 30 miles from Disney for places to stay. Buy your food at the store and have "cook outs" instead of eating at restaurants and fast food places.
With kids it is tough! Spend time at the beaches where it doesn't cost to get in!
Good luck

when you get here have an affair with a disney employee and they can get you in for free. the disney budget hotels are as cheap as you are going to find unless you stay in the cheaper hotels in orlando -- like where prostitutes hang out and stuff.

Disney off season is cheaper. Check their website & find the least busiest time of year for you to go.
Stay in a hotel or rent a condo off site & drive to the park.
Try cyberrentals.com, vrbo.com, hotels.com, cheaptickets.com, priceline.com
Ask at work to see they give employee discount tickets.
Ask the grandparents to give disney tickets to your kids for Christmas.

go ahead and spend the 50 bucks on tickets for one day, but spend a lot of time at the beach, or driving down to key west, instead of spending it in tourist trappy expensive commercial orlando
