I tested all the IE7 bata programs an I have the final version installed. Yes the "phishing", will slow down your webpages, because "phishsing", is a new security measure installed by Microsoft, to first scan a webpage to make sure that the page is the original and not a rogue.
Excellent security for people who do on line banking or purchase products with their credit card. I opened the square white box second tray up from the bottom of your montiror. The one with the yellow round ball an "!", in the ball and turned off this security.
Now I IE7 is faster. I don't use my computers for on line banking or credit card purchase. (If you do, I suggust you keep this security), If not get rid of it as you really don't need it.

Yes, and not only will it slow you down, but your activity may be sent to Microsoft on a regular (once every 30 minutes).
I'd recommend using Firefox.
Firefox too has a phishing filter, but instead of sending what you're looking at, Firefox gets a list of sites from Google every once in a while.
Also about Firefox...
Free, fast, a small 5mb download, Firefox blocks pop-ups and sites from secretly installing programs on your computer. It will copy over your settings from other browsers (cookies, settings, bookmarks). Firefox is powerful too, it's more up-to-date than even IE7 according to the web standards (w3.org).
The main reason I like Firefox is because it's customizable.
Why is customizability important?
Imagine being able to do 2 small things and never seeing a banner ad, flash ad or an iframe ad again? (Remember, pop-ups are already gone)
Imagine being able to pause your computer's music player when the phone rings without having to switch to it?
Firefox puts the power back in your hands!

Yes but it is worth the decrease in performance as phish will protect you while your on the internet. Increases in performance will happen as Phish is still quite new.

Phish should be good but if you have some programmes on your computer that take up space already, than maybe, but it isn't a promise.
