This is a relatively small country. There are many people leaving the country, going to spain and australia for example etc.

There are many people coming in to the country it seems.

Do we need to worry about overcrowding in terms of land and water and housing and jobs and environment in the future for all races, backgrounds, natives and immigrants living in this country?

Or will overcrowding not possibly be an issue?

Sadly, yes, this country is becoming overcrowded, at one point, our population was just 58 million people, now, because of working immigrants and asylum seekers, our population has risen by 20%.

Britain has become a victim of its own gain, we once had an Empire, and now we are turning into one of our own colonies because of immigration. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for immigration (if there's a good reason behind it) but there does come a time when you need to put a limit or a stop on the immigration problem.

In the 1980s I read that if you built a football stadium to hold the whole population of the world it would still only be the size of the Isle of Wight.

I guess it's not how many people that matters, it is how we live that matters. If we live like there is no tomorrow, no planet to care for, no brothers and sisters starving in Africa and elsewhere, then we will get what we deserve. I think that some British people (especially those who read The Daily Mail) are becoming paranoid, xenophobic and Little Englanders who think we are under siege from illegal immigrants. The statistics just don't bear this out. Don't read The Mail, watch Channel 4 News, and your worldview will change overnight.

Anyway, the future population is already being determined by toxic oceans and diminshing fish stocks, plus ever-decreasing loss of human male fertility. In two generations time, we will see the Western population dropping in numbers dramatically.

I think it's already overcrowded, down in the south east we've had a water shortage for, I think its coming up to two years. Because the council is building more and more houses and there just insn't the water to support them. I want to emigrate to france or canada or new zealand or somewhere (not fussed really!) as soon as I can afford it, and I think if you asked the whole of Britain - people born here anyway - half would say the same thing.

It depends where you are living in the UK. If you are in London and the Southeast then yes it does appear to be crowded. But if you compare the population of London with say Paris you will realise that density wise it is not as highly populated. Some of the densest areas on the planet are small countries with high populations. I believe Gaza is one of those places and Hong Kong ( Kowloon side) would be classed as crowded. If you go to other place in the UK like the Yorksire moors, Wales and Scotland you can sometimes go for miles without seeing anyone about. So its all about perspective.

@Robert D. our economy WOULD collapse??? take a look around mate, opening up to all these tin pot counties has not improved their standard of living. It has just brought our country down to their level. unfortunately consecutive governments are to blame for the mess we are in and its not any immigrants fault. i would emigrate too if there was a promise of a big house, money handed to me from the government and it works out 20 more than what i can earn in a month. as for rich people.. these people are multi million/billionaires. this money doesn't move round the system, it sits in bank accounts because its more than most can spend. some of it should be in the workers pockets but there is now so much cheap labour about the rich will get richer and the average man will be reduced to peasant. i think its time to elect a different government all together, and if their pledges are not met while in office, they should face criminal charges. maybe then they wouldn't con us into voting for them on false promises.

If you look at figures, as many people go out and come in so this should not really be a problem. It seems to be that the real issue is the already existing lack of resources in the country. NHS in crisis, probation in crisis, extortionate house prices, social services stretched, etc, etc. This is the fault of the government and of people's apathy not of people coming into the country.

The population of the UK officially topped 60 million recently not including illegals that have disappeared which has been estimated to be anywhere between 800000-2million.

The transport network, nhs housing stock and schools are all stretched to breaking point yet this government still allows a welcome all immigration policy

Yes it is overcrowded. 60,000,000 people on a small island like this is madness, there should be no more allowed in until the population has dropped by 20,000,000
