The first thing you want to do is purchase a junk computer that you can tear apart and rebuild. You'll also need an operating system such as Microsoft Windows or Linux. Study each of the components of a computer and it's use:
Power Supply
Processors (Intel, AMD)
Motherboard, or System Board, or Main Board
Hard Drive (IDE, SCSI, SATA)
RAM (DDR, DDR2)
Other storage devices (IDE)
External Cards (PCI, AGP, PCIe)
Video Adapters
Human Interface Technologies (USB, PS/2, firewire)
Wireless Technologies (Bluetooth, 802.11)
Try to stay away from computer bibles. They are latent with useless wording sometimes. You could look at books that reference A+ testing.

If i were you i would just either go to the library, or to your local book store and look through the books and see what you like reading. It took me many years to learn the ways of a computer.

Just go to a book store and look in the computer section, and they are all there. Pick out what you desire.
