Chris,
Sounds like you have severe attacks. Its best to make a Dr apt. there may be some medication that can help during the first stages of a panic attack.
Keep doing your research online. I know that the intensity of panic attacks can be drastically reduced. Seeing your Dr. is the best way.

Hey I understand how you feel I have two sons who suffer from one or both of these conditions . My son who is a dad and almost 20 has had several very real very severe problems recently the doctors put him on lorazepam a form of valium for when he feels the panic atack coming on he takes one and it helps to calm him down and then we don't havre to go through calling an ambulance and him stopping breathing and all. They then put him on Abilify to help control his emotions. For the social phobias my 15 year old suffers from that and he started going just where he was comfortable around a couple of people at a time it has taken some time but he is doing better. The Abilify can also help this problem. I wish you the best of luck please seek some help from a good doctor. Keep in my mind your docotr in conjuction with these meds may want youto have a mental eval and that is okay it can be very helpful. Best of luck I will keep you in my prayers and don't forget to rely on God he can help alot.

First of all accept that what you have is a debilitating illness just as much as arthritis or chronic indigestion.

You really need professional help but I guess your chances of having it on the N.H.S are pretty slim.

If you can afford it go to your G.P. explain the situation and ask to see a qualified hypnotherapist. I mean, if possible, a qualified doctor who practices hypnotherapy.

What this hypnotherapist will do is, under hypnosis, is get you to face up to the situations you fear most and teach you to overcome them.

It will not happen in one session but given time, faith and (alas) money a professional like this can turn your life around.

How do I know? Some years ago my wife, following a long a difficult physical illness was in the same position, and now is cured.

A couple of years ago she even travelled to Australia by herself.

So don't be depressed there are people out there who can help you.

Good luck.

I am single mum. I have been suffering for panic attacks for some 15 years now, though it was not until recently I understood what they were. They were progressively getting stronger and more frequent, stopping me from some days even leaving my house. I read this book and it all made perfect sense.

I am not saying I was not terrified of putting theory to action, I was more scared of that than the next attack! But I decided to view it as a game, one I had control of and could therefore not lose!

I know what torture it is...suffered with it now for 6 years. I don't know if they prescribed any meds for you, but clonazepam (generic name) helped me some and...believe it or not...when I cut all alcoholic beverages out of my "menu" it got consistantly better. I was not a big drinker by any means and was amamzed that within 2 weeks of no alcohol at all, I was REMARKABLLY more in control of the problem. I admit, I still sneak a social drink now and then though, and that seems to be ok...I suppose because the frequency in which I do this is minimal. GOOD LUCK it really is a hard battle and so few really know how much it can affect your life to have those anxieties to that extreme!!
