I think you mean Muratic acid. This is the acid used to clean brick and etch concrete. It will definitely harm plants. It's effects can be decreased with lots and lots of water! Diluted it will make the soil acidic and can be counteracted with bicarbonate of soda. Muratic is the same chemical used to raise the pH in swimming pool water and bicarbonate of soda (good old Arm & Hammer) is used to lower the pH in the same.

Brick masons use a solution if Muriatic acid and water. About a 50/50 mix of acid and water. Be careful when mixing and using the acid and be sure to use gloves. Use a wire brush dipped in the solution and scrub the hard to reach places. For the brick faces, just use a piece of brick dipped in the solution and rub the other bricks. After cleaning, spray off with water hose so the acid doesn't keep eating away at the mortar. You can by Muriatic acid at any pool and spa store by the way.

Brick acid - also known as 'spirits of salt' is concentrated hydrochloric acid and is highly corrosive. If some is spilled on plants you can wash it off with a large amount of water and will do little damage if it's only in contact with the plant for less than a minute. Even then the leaves may go brown.

Is a frog's butt watertight?

Use rubber gloves and protective eyewear when working with muriatic acid. Throw a painter's drop cloth over plants. Spare 'em burn spots on their leaves.
