I have a radiator in my home with a thermostat on it. When we turned on the central heating for the first time for the winter this radiator didn't come on.

Remove the thermostatic head, you will find a pin in the valve body which has probably siezed. Move it in and out a few times, and try and smear it with vaseline or silicone grease, refit head.

Easy fix m8, take off valve head, you will see a little pin, tap it gently with a pin hammer or a pair of pliers. Good tip, either shut off the valves fully or twice during shut down turn heating on for 10 mins and in that time .turn the valve on and off a couple of times checking that the rad gets warm, it gets warm from bottom up.

Ps. no disrespect to the other person who says to turn valve on and off a few times, you need to turn on the system to pressurise it, if you just turn the valve on and off , the pin will stil stay seized, you need to tap it.

Remove the entire plastic head using a smallscrewdriver to undo the band. (the water will not run out) push the stem that pokes out with the other end of the screwdriver or a small piece of wood until it is freed. Replace head , should work.
