I know it's been asked before, but i am a transplant to Augusta, GA. I have lived in THE 2 most liberal states in the nation(CA & NY), and my husband and I LOVE the south. we are hard core conservatives. we believe in saving people before animals, and support the death penalty.

No place is perfect, but the only drawback we've really seen is a harse dividing racism. but people here are kind, friendly warm and caring, no matter what thier race.

It's not 90's rap, i think it may have a deeper root, but i have searched the net, and find nothing.

Any ideas??

Dirty South is a style of rap music that popped up in the latter half of the 1990s and is based in southern cities and states such as Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, Atlanta, Miami or South Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Houston. Dirty South descended from southern rap: its inspirations drew from Dr. Dre's Chronic album as well as Luther Campbell's 2 Live Crew's (one of the first southern rap groups to gain notoriety) nasty traditions in equivalent measure, arriving at a stoned, violent, sex-obsessed and profanity-oriented brand of modern hip hop.

Dirty South got its name from a song by Goodie Mob. Some of the Dirty South music is characterized by its bouncy, club-friendly beats and lyrics generally concerning flashy jewelry, luxury automobiles, women, and occasionally gangster lyrics. An offshoot of Dirty South music is Crunk, featuring beats with loud, pounding bass.

Rapper/producer Lil Jon is generally considered the main pioneer of Crunk music.

The genre inspired the nickname "The dirty dirty" for New Orleans.

I don't know what you mean 'dirty" unless it is a reference to an industrial city.
Augusta is a racially charged city. But not because of the people from the south. It is because Augusta is a military town with many people who come here with the idea that Southern people are racist. We are no more racist that any other group including blacks. Remember the civil rights movement-it started in the South but by far mostly all the rioting was in the North and on the West coast. But, mostly in the North where it should not have been necessary (if the people in the South were racist as many are taught). I think the racism you see is really more perceived and imported than rooted in the South.
The most racist people I have ever met are people from the North who move here usually in the military or with their jobs. I think much racism has it roots in the TV.
Anyway-'dirty South' can not mean what you think. It has to be a reference to dirt and not people or their attitudes.
