Hi, I live by myself and am classed as having a disability. I am not allowed by the Housing Association to keep any pets. I really would like to get myself a little dog (my disability would not prevent me from looking after it, and looking after it would help my condition) Under the HRA 1998, you have a right to have a family, also a right to a private life, could the Housing Association be infringing on my right to this? I am thinking of getting one anyway and if they try to evict me, I will take the case to the European Court - advice, comments - please.

Just to say in reply to Nics insulting remarks, I do actually work, and I do pay my NI and Tax, just because I live in a Housing Association property does not mean that I rely on benefits, many nurses and keyworkers live in Housing Association properties.

you must exhaust all courts in UK before going to europe so forget that one. the UK pays little heed to european or UN law.
take the opposite approach - get your dog - fight to keep or be transferred to a house that allows pets ! good luck
