All government policies affect families in one way or another. It restricts someone to doing or not doing a certain thing. You need to be more specific.

One example of a government policy effecting families is the Family Leave Act that Clinton signed. It provided job security for women while they were on maternity leave, also gave men the right to take a leave of absense from their jobs to care for family members.
