General change in society due to all sorts of things including the decline of the power of institutions.
In the days when people were allegedly polite to one another we still had trades unions, the church was more influential, and teachers were well paid and well respected.
Personally I blame Margaret Thatcher for almost everything.

what were you like as a teenager? there is a phase in every human to act up at times, this can be by being rude, arogant. they think politness is only for idiots because they have no peers that are polite and asociated with them.
these ideologies of younge kids are not necissarily true because not all kids are rude.
it is society that can affect their attitude, with discpline every kid can be an angel.

Because every teenager believes that making the difference by acting opossite from what is considered to the the norm is making a statement. They define their identity by being different. The extent varies from their environment and their need to differ.

not all teenagers behave badly but for those who do, i think they do it because they have no respect for anything or anyone. least of all their elders. for them being polite and acting like a do-gooder, is seen as something that isn't cool in their books. if you're not with the crowd, then you haven't got it. sad i know, but to be honest those with big mouths and who answer back in a disrespecful and improper way need to have their heads examined, in addition to being that respect is not something that they have themselves. they have to earn it from us and by being polite, well- mannered and behaved, it will get them very far in life. unfortunately, for many teenagers they wish to make lives difficult, not just for us but themselves and yet they are doing themselves no favours by acting like morons and upsetting other people with their disorderly conduct.

Being nice is a sign of weakness. Being bad seems to give you power over your situation. "I am bad, i don't care, you cant hurt me because i don't care." Basically. With age and life experiences comes the knowledge of who you truly are. With this comes acceptance and real truth. Those who never grow up, intellectually, don't get this message and unfortunately they are the ones who end up in jail or worse.

I hate it too.
Trying to look powerful in front of others. And as soon as you meet their challenge, they respond with all their friends in tow, because it is all an act.
It is just that you have grown-up quicker than they have, that gives you the perspective to realise the wrong in their ways.
Peace out Bro...
