I am straight but i can tell you the most important part of a relationship is communication. You have to keep the lines of communication open at all times and be able to discuss everything with the person you want to be with. At least if it is going to be a lasting relationship. The 2nd most important thing is to keep the relationship renewed. In other words do the things you did in the beginning to attract and keep the other person once your relationship is established. Don't forget to go on dates like you did early on and do not forget to spend time doing things together that you both enjoy even though life gets hectic. I just had this discussion 2 nights ago with a friend of mine who is a gay male and had just had an argument with his "wife"(?). He has been so busy that he had forgotten to take the time I spoke of to remind the other person just how special he was to him and to let him know that he is still special. Every relationship needs a little rejuvenatin at some point. Hope this helps.

The most important part of a relation ship is not so much keeping a total trust but being able to communicate and never having to communicate the fact that a third person has entered the relationship if you are free and clear on being able to only have the other half of your relationship without deviating any other problem quickly diminishes

the friendship..
friend= open, reliable, trustworthy, a person that will make you feel better when you are sad..and will help you out when you're in trouble.
if you have the friendship, you're good..
the better the friendship, the better the relationship..
if you aren't friends and it's just honey, shmookie, cookie...it's not going to last.

love and communication.
you got to care for each other alot. for me, you need to talk about every thing and anything. even parts of bed need to be talked.
faithfullnes to your partner, your girl comes first and you love her even when she goes nuts. but love stands it all and does better than with a guy.
