hehehe another harry potter question, awesome!
I'd agree with you, but I go one step further and make it more general, the water signs (cancer, piscis and scorpio) exhibit a lot of slytherin qualities....or at least the dar side of the water element does lol, and the fire signs have a lot of gryffindor qualities
(Impulsive, brash, outgoing, impulsive, volatile and did I say Impulsive hehehe) hope this helps...

If I were to relate the four Houses of Hogwarts to signs of the Zodiac, I'd say Gryffindors are Leo (Lion/Fire/loyal), Slytherins are Scorpio (Scorpion/Water/secretive), Hufflepuffs are Capicorns (Goat/Earth/hard-working), and Ravenclaws are Aquarius (Water Bearer/Air/smart). I chose the various signs because of the element and traits they are associated with. Interesting how the elements for Gryffindor and Slytherin would be fire and water. Reading through my long answer, you'll probably think of Harry, Hermione, Snape, Voldemort, Cedric, Luna, and Cho.
It's the Lion which symbolizes Leos, who like lions tend to be dignified and strong, and it is this sense of their power which allows them to get things done. Putting these folks at the helm is a good thing, too, since the Leo-born are natural leaders. The Lion's enthusiasm is boundless, and along with that comes generosity of spirit and the determination to succeed. That focus may be construed as vanity and even bossiness at times, but Lions would say 'No way!' and continue along their regal path. Regardless of appearance, those born under this Sign can be counted on for their loyalty and sense of honor. They are also decisive, intensely proud and wonderfully romantic. Those born under this Sign are fearless and strong, which may be why Lions plunge in head first and let the chips fall where they may. It's the Lion's unswerving courage that wins so many folks over. If you need someone to lead the charge, call a Leo -- and the bigger the project, the better, since these folks love an expansive stage (and the audience that comes with it).
It's the Scorpion which symbolizes Scorpios. Much like the Scorpion would rather kill itself than be killed, those born under this Sign are the ones who are in ultimate control of their destiny. It is life on the Scorpion's terms, too, since these folks promote their agenda and see to it that things go forward. These folks are intense, passionate and filled with desire. They're also complex and secretive. These folks are surprisingly resourceful. Scorpio is ruled by the Planets Mars and Pluto. Mars was the God of War in Roman mythology and Pluto was known as the God of the Underworld in ancient Roman times. They are intuitive, probing and very focused on knowing who's who and what's what. Scorpions can lose their temper (and even become vengeful) when someone gets in their way, so it's best to give them plenty of room. The Element associated with Scorpio is Water. A motto for Scorpions would be 'still waters run deep.' The Scorpio's emotions are repressed, kept under cover. Again, secrets to be used another day. That said, be aware that these folks are clever, perceptive and always in the mix. Their ability to see into things can sometimes be a curse for Scorpions, however, since they can take an insignificant matter and turn it into a huge slight. Beware the Scorpion who feels crossed! These folks can turn vindictive in no time flat. Finally, while Scorpions aren't above some subtle manipulation to get what they want, they'd much rather take a scientific, even mystical path.
It's the Goat which symbolizes Capricorns, and an apt mascot it is. Goats love to climb to the top of the mountain, where the air is clear and fresh. In much the same way, Capricorns want to get to the top of their chosen field. The great strengths of the Capricorn-born are their willingness to work hard and their determination to succeed. Their ambition is boundless, yet they are cautious, responsible and always play fair. Plus, they love tradition and reserve and want to appear polite and friendly. The Element associated with Capricorn is Earth.
The Sign of Aquarius is symbolized by the Water Bearer. In much the same way that the Water Bearer brings that precious liquid as a gift, Aquarians shower the world with their thoughts and new ideas. Luckily, they are at a near-genius level, so their minds churn out some amazing things. Naysayers will quickly find out that Aquarians can be impatient, even temperamental, with those who disagree. The Element associated with Aquarius is Air, and that means the rarefied air of the intellectual. Some might call their behavior eccentric (and they would be right), but when you consider that the Aquarian's heart is truly in the right place, a few oddities should be overlooked. In their own way, Aquarians treasure their many friends and acquaintances and want to give back as much as they can.

that's really a nice question...I 've always related Gryffindors to leos...I mean bravery and even Gryffindors always take the shape of lions. If u relate scorpios to Slytherins...i guess slytherins picture the dark side of scorpios...
I think you can also relate Ravenclaws to aquarius or virgo...both signs have sharp minds

I think that Gryffindor could be Aries, but would most likely be Leo. As their sign is the lion, and they're brave like leo, but not as aggressive as Aries. As for the slytherins, I think Gemini would represent them well. Scorpios on the other hand, I think would fit better in Ravenclaw, as they have sharp calculating minds. Hufflepuff is the house for Libra!

OBVIOUSLY Aries is Gryffindor, but in my experience it's Geminis who are Slytherins. Scorpios are more Hufflepumpish.
