I would not try this. I did that once, and what a mess - I had to take my computer to the repair shop and they told me not to run two anti virus progrms at the same time. I now only use AVG Free.

Dude avast is so complicated on the start, i became in basic terms questioning that today. besides, I even have the unfastened version. Idk what professional version is. In Avast, whilst a virus is detected, you will see that this technique recommends you progression the virus to "chest". The virus chest is what different courses call "quarantine". This in basic terms places the virus in a separate region the place it is going to be unable to do something. that's now no longer lively, yet nonetheless there. the reason for it is that many times (properly a great style of cases) antivirus courses could make blunders and by risk declare stable/impartial issues as risky viruses. So via shifting it to the chest, you do no longer risk completely deleting an significant pc subject. If after a month or so which you're comp is working superb from once you place the virus interior the chest, that's okay to bypass forward and delete it. Lol rather do no longer fix them. Idk what extract potential.... So yeah in certainty in basic terms depart viruses interior the chest. What do you mean via working? i understand that many times Avast randomly pops up (like if i've got been to a fishy internet site or if I in basic terms downloaded something from Limewire....)telling me a virus has been discovered. So i assume that's often on accountability

sorry ,you cant run 2 or more anti-virus programs at the same time
this is to do with the virus defenitions, which are the data it downloads to keep our anti-viruses up to date
these are little packets of data which are used during a scan to find viruses on our p.c,s and when a defenition finds a file with a identical mirror of the defenition it alerts us to a virus infection
when you install 2 or more anti-virus programs the 2 sets of virus defenitions can become mixed up and then cause conflicts, which can in some cases make the scanner unusable and miss infections in our p.c,s
you can install 2 anti-viruses in a p.c if you only run 1 at any one time,so the other one must be disabled at all times, and when you wish to change them just disable the one you are using before enableing the next one
avast anti-virus is a extremely good anti-virus and is more than enough to protect a home p.c

Both employ resident protection modules so they will conflict. At best they will eat up your memory resources quickly. I think Avast detects the presence of another antivirus product anyway...
If you need a second opinion, use a standalone tool such as McAfee Stinger or Avast Virus Checker
or use BitDefender 8 Free -
http://www.filehippo.com/download_bitdefender/

It has resident protection disabled, updates regularly and can be used as an effective on-demand scanner without any (?) problems...

No and don't even try because when you install avast anti virus it makes you remove all other anti malware products because it takes over you system security and will mash all atemps to install another anti virus. i would install avast only because it is much better than avg which lets viruses in.

You should only run one anti virus programme at a time as they interfere with each other if both run at the same time. If you are trying to save time you can set them to run at a time suitable to you ie when you are asleep.

The same reason two people can't look through the same book at the same time while looking for different things.

They're not co-ordinated with each other, and will trip each other up.

Do it one at a time, and in windows safe mode.

you can have as many av progs on your pc as you want but only one can be running at any time because they cause conflicts. it is always best to have a second antivirus just to be sure you get all the dirty wee critters. if you want another av try this one http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/housecall/v6.5/
