If you mean Godiva or in Anglo Saxon Godgifu she was the wife of Earl Leofric of Mercia. She is famous for having ridden naked through Coventry in protest at a tax increase in the 1050's. A recent talk on the radio about her pointed out that the references to her as undressed could just mean without her jewellery or official robes or signs of rank.
