There are a ton of diff kinds of nipples for bottles. If you are really intent on weening your child, go and buy every kind of nipple you can find, and try them! I used platex's silicone nurser nipple for my son once he needed more than breastmilk. GL

I agree, buy a few different types of bottles (or ask your friends who are moms if they have a bottle you could try). It took my daughter four different types of bottles before you found one she liked. When the nipple of the bottle is in their mouth, squeeze a bit of the milk into their mouth. A lot of babies get frustrated because they don't know the bottle nipple is a feeding tool. Another idea is to put a small amount of sugar water (called sweetease in hospitals) on the nipple. They use this technique in hospitals when they want a baby to keep its pacifier; I would try it on the bottle and see if that would stimulate suckling. Let me know how it works!

My sister wanted to wean but her baby wouldn't take a bottle either. She just kept trying every day until he took it. In the meantime, she still let him nurse as often as he needed. I think he was around 8 months when she weaned him.

So keep offering bottles and your breast, and maybe your baby will eventually wean. If not, remember that babies are hard wired to wean sometime between the ages of 2 and 4 (sometimes later, sometimes earlier, but generally in that range), so it is a difficult thing for a baby to do. I wouldn't want to wean to something fake from something nice and warm and comfortable-- would you? By the time they're about a year old, they may be distractable enough to wean if you can't wean now.

don't sense undesirable approximately no longer breastfeeding there are literally 1000's of formulation fed toddlers accessible that are in basic terms as healthy as breastfed toddlers. i ended breastfeeding after a month with the aid of fact of latch issues. My husband particularly wanted me to breastfeed yet supported my decision to modify to formulation. He knew that with the aid of fact they are my breasts that it became my decision. the tip. easily if your boyfriend became obsessed on his daughter he would spend greater time together with her. If he can't be there in the process the sleepless nights then he particularly does not have a say in no remember if your formulation feed or breastfeed. shop your head up, you're doing a great pastime. IF you must stop breastfeeding then just buy a couple different styles of nipples to try out. It will take some adjustment for your baby so be patient.

How old is your baby?
The AAP recommends breastfeeding for at least the first 12 months.
If you do choose to wean, you need to do it slowly and gently.
Depending on the age of your baby, you might be able to try a soft spout sippy or a straw cup.
Have someone other than mom offer the bottle or cup.
Try pumping your milk at first so that the taste is familiar.

just keep trying - let your baby have some breast milk, and then stop and try the bottle and then return to the breast - may take a while - but your baby will get the message after a while

Continue to breastfeed until your child is old enough to go onto solid foods. Breastfeeding is best for your child, though inconvenient for the mom. Creates a lovely bond, though. I am looking forward to it.
