5 + 5 + 5 ≠ 550

I'm not sure if that was the solution you were looking for though.

545+5=550

well...the first thing i see when i look at this is to put a slash through the equal sign because clearly 5+5+5 does not equal 550

the more common way to fix this problem is (at least the answer that I was told was most common when I did this problem) was to change one of the + signs to a 4....this leaves you with 545+5 =550

5*10^2 + 5*10^1 +5*0 = 550

Put vertical strike on one of the plus sign, then it reads
545+5 or 5+545, both gives you 550, the RHS.

place a diagonal slash over the equal sign to make it a not equal sign
